NYC Font

Inspired by Lisa Rienermanns' type the sky font this work makes the transfer into the opposite: not taking photos of the courtyard outlines from below but visualizing the letter shapes from above the massive buildings. Via the satellite mode in Google Maps a whole alphabet could be found over New York City. For the fonts' demonstration a text passage from Italo Calvinos' “Invisible Cities” has been chosen. It reads: “Cities, like dreams, are made of desires and fears, even if the thread of their discourse is secret, their rules are absurd, their perspectives deceitful, and everything conceals something else.”
